A 24-member delegation from Pok Oi Hospital, led by its Chairman of the Board of Directors Mr. Lee Yuk Fat, paid a visit to the University on 26 February 2019.

Professor Roland T. Chin, President and Vice-Chancellor, extended his warm welcome to all members for visiting the University despite their busy schedules. He then shared with the delegation the recent achievements of the University, as well as the uniqueness and strengths of HKBU. He looked forward to collaborating closely with Pok Oi Hospital in nurturing more outstanding talents for the betterment of society.

Founded in 1919, Pok Oi Hospital has been guided by its motto of "We Love, We Care, We Serve" in serving the Hong Kong community. It strives to provide a wide range of medical, education and community services to meet the needs of the general public. Chairman Lee Yuk Fat greatly appreciated the University’s vision of delivering academic excellence in a caring, creative and global culture. On behalf of the Hospital, Chairman Lee expressed his sincere wish to establish more fruitful collaborations with the University, particularly in the areas of Chinese medicine, internship and service learning programmes.

The visit began with a tour to the HKBU Kindergarten and a presentation by Dr. Amelia Lee, Head of Early Childhood and Elementary Education of the School of Continuing Education. The delegation was also briefed on the latest developments of the University, including the Department of Social Work, student exchange, service learning and experiential learning opportunities. They were warmly received by Dr. Albert Chau, Vice-President (Teaching and Learning); Mr. Yeung Chee Kong, Associate Vice-President (Engagement); Professor Petrus Ng and Dr. Shirley Hung, respective Head and Associate Head of the Department of Social Work; Professor Gordon Tang, Director of Student Affairs; Mrs. Lily Chan, Director of University Advancement and Secretary-General of the Hong Kong Baptist University Foundation; and Ms. Cindy Chan, Director of the Centre for Innovative Service-Learning. A luncheon was hosted by Professor Chin after the visit.
