HKBU Symphony Orchestra Annual Gala Concert

19 March 2020

Being one of the oldest university orchestras in Hong Kong and comprising the finest musical talents at the University, the HKBU Symphony Orchestra holds the Annual Gala Concert, one of HKBU’s signature events, every year to share the joy of music with the public. Thanks to the staunch support of various donors, the Annual Gala Concert is not only held at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre’s Concert Hall, a top-notch venue for music performances in the territory, but is also able to invite internationally acclaimed musicians to perform on stage alongside HKBU’s talented students.

Some of the world-renowned musicians who have been invited in recent years include:

  • Pianist Mr. Andrew von Oeyen
  • Soprano Ms. Zhang Liping
  • Marimbist Ms. Eriko Daimo
  • Violinist Ms. Anne Akiko Meyers
  • Soprano Ms. Nicole Cabell
  • Violinist Ms. Simone Lamsma

With so many internationally recognised performers participating in the event, the HKBU Symphony Orchestra Annual Gala Concert is beyond doubt an extraordinary experience to both the audience and our music students.

“Thanks to the donors’ support for the Annual Gala Concert, we can invite renowned artists to perform with the HKBU Symphony Orchestra. For a music student like me, the Concert provides an excellent opportunity to work with the finest musical talent in the world. I truly treasure this invaluable out-of-classroom learning experience.”
