The Story of Jao Tsung-i Field Project Competition Awards Ceremony
To enrich students’ learning experience and to arouse their interest in traditional Chinese culture through gaining an insight into the life of Professor the Hon. Jao Tsung-i, GBM, the Hong Kong Baptist University Jao Tsung-I Academy of Sinology (BUJAS), together with the Jao Tsung-I Petite Ecole of The University of Hong Kong and The Jao Link, organised for the first time “The Story of Jao Tsung-i Field Project Competition”.
The Awards Ceremony was held at the Jao Tsung-I Academy on 6 August 2021. A total of 28 awards were presented. The Competition received submissions from various genres, including videos, musical compositions, paintings and pieces of creative writing. Some students even used shadow play or created front and back covers, illustrations and animations to recreate images of Professor Jao and the inspiration they have gained from the master.
Professor Chen Zhi, Director of BUJAS, remarked in his congratulations speech that he has seen the students’ creativity in their submissions, as well as their pursuit of knowledge and motivation for learning in the midst of the pandemic.
Professor Lee Chack Fan, GBS, JP, Director of the Jao Tsung-I Petite Ecole of The University of Hong Kong, commented on the overwhelming participation of 26 teams from 20 secondary schools in the Competition, and he said that all the submissions were very diverse and full of creativity.
The Ceremony was well attended by members of the HKBU Foundation and friends of the University. They included Dr. Simon Suen, BBS, JP; Ms. Veronica Yiu; Ms. Angeline Yiu; Dr. Tang Wai Hung; Ms. Michelle Cheong; Dr. Wong Shu Yui; Mrs. Fidelia Chan; Mr. Chan Man Chau, BBS, JP; and Mr. Lam Fung Lam, MH. Mrs. Lily Chan, Director of University Advancement and Secretary-General of the HKBU Foundation, also joined the Ceremony.
