Dinner in honour of representatives of Hung Hin Shiu Charitable Foundation
Dr. Clement Chen, GBS, JP, Chairman of the Council and the Court, and Professor Alexander Wai, JP, President and Vice-Chancellor, recently co-hosted a dinner for Mr. Billy Hung, Mrs. Simmy Hung and Mrs. Elizabeth Hung Wong of the Hung Hin Shiu Charitable Foundation Limited (the Foundation), to express our heartfelt gratitude to the Hung family and its Foundation for their staunch support over the past five decades.
The dinner was also joined by Professor Martin Wong, Provost; Professor Lyu Aiping, Vice-President (Research and Development) cum Dean of the Graduate School; Dr. Albert Chau, Vice-President (Teaching and Learning) and Acting Dean of Arts; Ms. Christine Chow, Vice-President (Administration) and Secretary; Professor Bian Zhaoxiang, MH, Associate Vice-President (Chinese Medicine Development); Professor Rick Wong, Chair Professor of the Department of Chemistry; and Mrs. Lily Chan, Director of University Advancement and Secretary-General of the HKBU Foundation. The guests exchanged views on the University’s strategic developments and the establishment of the first-ever Chinese Medicine Hospital in Hong Kong during the dinner.
The Hung family and its Foundation are long-standing supporters of the University, who have made tremendous contributions towards the University’s institutional advancement, including the establishment of the “Institute of Creativity – Dr. Hung Hin Shiu Development Fund”, Endowed Professorships, various scholarships and in support of the Chaplain’s Office Campus Ministry. As the Director of Shiu Pong Enterprises Limited, Mr. Billy Hung is currently serving on the Court of HKBU and the HKBU Foundation’s Board of Governors, contributing significantly to the University’s governance and strategic development. Mrs. Elizabeth Hung Wong is currently the Dean of the Executive Committee of the Hong Kong Chapter of the American Guild of Organists, who is enthusiastic in supporting the University’s initiatives in nurturing young music talent.
