Lunch in honour of Professor Raymond R. Wong

To celebrate the birthday of Professor Raymond R. Wong, SBS, Honorary Permanent President of the HKBU Foundation, Professor Alexander Wai, JP, President and Vice-Chancellor, hosted a lunch for him at Shiu Pong Hall on 2 November 2023.

The lunch was well attended by several HKBU alumni who were students of Professor Wong during the 70s and 90s, including Ms. Betty Lo, Mr. Kenneth Chu, Ms. Milly Lam, Mr. Stanley Mok and Ms. Bonnie Chiu. Other HKBU representatives attending the lunch included Mrs. Sheila Wai; Professor Steve Guo, Interim Dean of the School of Communication; Professor Chan King Cheung, BBS, Raymond. R. Wong Endowed Professor in Media Ethics and Professor of Practice in the Department of Journalism; and Mrs. Lily Chan, Director of University Advancement and Secretary-General of the HKBU Foundation. Guests exchanged views on the latest developments of the University, in particular the School of Communication, and extended their heartiest congratulations to Professor Wong.

Professor Raymond R. Wong, the recipient of an Honorary Doctorate of Social Sciences from HKBU, has made tremendous contributions to journalism education and chaired the Committee on Review of Public Service Broadcasting upon his retirement. Professor Wong is also a staunch supporter of HKBU, having established the Dorothy Shen Wong Memorial Fund with a generous donation of HK$50 million to support a range of strategic initiatives launched by the School of Communication.
