HKBU teams up with NVIDIA to promote knowledge exchange in AI
Co-organised by HKBU’s Department of Mathematics and NVIDIA (Nvidia Corporation), the Symposium entitled “Mathematical Foundation for AI” was held on 16 May 2024 with the goal of exploring the knowledge about artificial intelligence (AI) and its applications through collaboration between industry and academia.
The Symposium featured presentations from esteemed speakers from NVIDIA, including Professor Simon See, Chief Solutions Architect and Global Head of the NVIDIA AI Technology Centre; Dr. Charles Cheung, Deputy Director of NVIDIA AI Technology Center for North Asia; and Dr. Ivan Au Yeung, Senior Solutions Architect. Also featured were Professor Michael Ng, Dean of Science of HKBU; Professor Xu Yi Da, Professor in Mathematics, and Professor Fan Jun, Associate Professor in Mathematics.
The Symposium covered a range of topics: tensor representation in data science, transfer learning methods, network sampling, infinite harmonics, and functional neural networks.
NVIDIA, a donor of HKBU, is dedicated to promoting the research and development (R&D) and education of AI and has rendered its support to a variety of HKBU research projects with the provision of cutting-edge technologies. The collaboration between HKBU and NVIDIA is expected to fuel technological innovations and spearhead the development of AI applications.
