Since its establishment, the Hong Kong Baptist University Foundation has been able to receive generous donations from enthusiastic individuals and organisations to set up various development funds and realise a number of new initiatives that are innovative and have profound impact on the community. Major initiatives include:

Lee Shau Kee Communication and Visual Arts Building

In 2019, the University received a generous donation of HK$100 million from Dr. The Hon. Lee Shau Kee, GBM, through the Lee Shau Kee Foundation to support the University’s strategic development, particularly the development of the research cluster of creative media and practice. HKBU named the Communication and Visual Arts Building on the BUR campus after Dr. Lee Shau Kee.

University Strategic Development – supported by Shun Hing Education and Charity Fund Limited

In 2019, the University received a generous donation of HK$100 million from Shun Hing Education and Charity Fund Limited in support of the University’s strategic development.

Golden Meditech Centre for NeuroRegeneration Sciences

In 2018, the University received a generous donation pledge of HK$15 million from Mr. Kam Yuen, Founder of Golden Meditech Holdings Limited, for the establishment of the Golden Meditech Centre for NeuroRegeneration Sciences at HKBU. The Centre supports research relevant to autologous neural stem cell therapy and other cell therapy that can potentially treat neurodegenerative and other incurable diseases.

University’s Institutional Advancement – supported by Dr. Liu Chak Wan and Madam Lei Ioc Heng

In 2018, the University received a generous donation of HK$10 million from Dr. Liu Chak Wan and Madam Lei Ioc Heng in support of the University’s institutional advancement.

Hong Kong Baptist University – Jockey Club Chinese Medicine Disease Prevention and Health Management Centre

In 2018, the School of Chinese Medicine of HKBU established the “Hong Kong Baptist University – Jockey Club Chinese Medicine Disease Prevention and Health Management Centre” with a generous donation of over HK$90 million from The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust. The Centre aims at “preventing diseases from occurring, worsening and relapsing” by providing comprehensive Chinese medicine healthcare services to enhance public health.

Tsang Shiu Tim Endowed Professorship in Chinese Medicine Clinical Studies

In 2016, the University received a generous donation from the Tsang Shiu Tim Charitable Foundation for the establishment of the “Tsang Shiu Tim Endowed Professorship in Chinese Medicine Clinical Studies”. The Professor will lead clinical research on Chinese medicine at the School of Chinese medicine to develop new drugs or treatment, promoting the advancement of the industry.”
