Since its establishment, the Hong Kong Baptist University Foundation has been able to receive generous donations from enthusiastic individuals and organisations to set up various development funds and realise a number of new initiatives that are innovative and have profound impact on the community. Major initiatives include:
Mr. and Mrs. Lau Chor Tak Multi-Purpose Hall
In 2010 and 2012, the University received a total donation of HK$17 million from Mr. and Mrs. Lau Chor Tak in support of the Campus Master Plan. In recognition of the donors’ generosity, the multi-purpose hall at the Madam Kwok Chung Bo Fun Sports and Cultural Centre was named the “Mr. and Mrs. Lau Chor Tak Multi-purpose Hall”.
HKBU Jao Tsung-I Academy of Sinology
In 2013, the University inaugurated the Jao Tsung-I Academy of Sinology, the first institution of its kind in Hong Kong. The Academy will pursue innovative research to enhance academic excellence in Chinese studies and to develop a Chinese-style ideology which combines traditional Chinese values with relevance for modern times. The University received numerous generous donations from individuals and organisations in support of the development of the Academy.

The University received a generous donation of HK$10 million from the Tsang Shiu Tim Charitable Foundation in support of the Campus Master Plan. In appreciation of the Foundation’s kind benefaction, the University named a 400-seat lecture theatre the “Tsang Chan Sik Yue Auditorium” in 2012.
Madam Kwok Chung Bo Fun Sports and Recreation Centre
The University received a generous donation from the Kwok Chung Bo Fun Charitable Fund to establish the “Mr. Kwok Yat Wai and Madam Kwok Chung Bo Fun Graduate School Development Fund” and “The Faith‧Hope‧Love Endowment Fund” in support of the teaching and research activities of HKBU's Graduate School and student character development programmes. In recognition of the Fund’s generosity, the University named the 3-storey sports and cultural building the “Madam Kwok Chung Bo Fun Sports and Cultural Centre”.
Dr. Kennedy Y.H. Wong Endowed Professorship in Chinese Medicine
In 2010, the University received a generous donation of HK$10 million from Dr. Kennedy Wong, BBS, JP, for the establishment of the “Dr. Kennedy Y.H. Wong Endowed Professorship in Chinese Medicine”. The Professorship supports the recruitment of a renowned scholar in Chinese Medicine in order to promote the academic leadership of the School of Chinese Medicine in serving the community and benefiting humankind.

In 2011, the University received a generous donation of a residential unit valued at over HK$20 million from Mr. and Mrs. Lau Chor Tak for receiving world-class scholars and distinguished visiting laureates. In recognition of the donors' support, the apartment was named the "Mr. and Mrs. Lau Chor Tak Lodge for Distinguished Scholars".
