Since its establishment, the Hong Kong Baptist University Foundation has been able to receive generous donations from enthusiastic individuals and organisations to set up various development funds and realise a number of new initiatives that are innovative and have profound impact on the community. Mr. Simon Suen and Mrs. Mary Suen Sino-Humanitas Institute

In 2011, the University received a generous donation of HK$30 million from Dr. Simon Suen, BBS, JP, and Mrs. Mary Suen to establish the "Development Fund for the Mr. Simon Suen and Mrs. Mary Suen Sino-Humanitas Institute" in support of the Institute's operation, research and exchange activities. The Institute is committed to setting up a platform for academic collaboration in the areas of Chinese classical learning and Sinology by inviting world-renowned scholars to deliver public lectures and attend international academic conferences. Scholarly books and journals will also be published to promote the research development of Sinology.

Institute of Creativity

In 2011, the University received a generous donation of HK$100 million from Hung Hin Shiu Charitable Foundation Limited to establish the “Institute of Creativity – Dr. Hung Hin Shiu Development Fund” in support of the development, research projects and academic exchange activities of the Institute. Led by Nobel Prize winners and renowned scholars in different academic disciplines, students and faculty members of the University can interact and exchange ideas with world-class scholars, thereby promoting the research culture on campus.

Cheung On Tak International Award for Outstanding Contribution to Chinese Medicine

In 2011, the University received a generous donation of HK$6 million from the Cheung On Tak Charity Foundation in support of the establishment of the "Cheung On Tak International Award for Outstanding Contribution to Chinese Medicine" for promoting the internationalisation and modernisation of Chinese medicine. In 2013, the University also received a precious collection of paintings, antiques and craftworks from Mr. Cheung On Tak for charity auction. More than HK$10 million generated from the auction was further donated to the University in support of the Award.

Strategic Plan for Intellectual Asset Protection of Traditional Chinese Medicine

In 2011, the University received a generous donation of HK$30 million from Pecan Foundation Limited in support of the School of Chinese Medicine’s research project entitled “Strategic Plan for Intellectual Asset Protection of Traditional Chinese Medicine”. The project supports advanced research into the application of Chinese medicine in treating inflammation, cancer and viral diseases as well as the technologies for processing Chinese medicines. There will be collaborations with top-quality research institutes and higher education institutions in Chinese medicine on the Mainland.

Shum Yiu Foon Shum Bik Chuen Memorial Centre for Cancer and Inflammation Research

In 2010, the University received a generous donation of HK$20 million from Wu Jieh Yee Charitable Foundation Limited designated for the research development of the Shum Yiu Foon Shum Bik Chuen Memorial Centre for Cancer and Inflammation Research of the School of Chinese Medicine. With the funding, the Centre has been able to recruit experts and procure state-of-the-art facilities to carry out anti-cancer and anti-inflammation research.

Scheme of Chinese Medicine Treatment for the Elderly and Scheme of Advanced Clinical Training of Chinese Medicine Graduates

In 2010, the University received a generous donation of HK$10.2 million from Mr. Franco Cutrupia and Mrs. Pauline Cutrupia in support of the establishment of the Scheme of Chinese Medicine Treatment for the Elderly and the Scheme of Advanced Clinical Training of Chinese Medicine Graduates. With this donation, the School of Chinese Medicine has been able to provide quality Chinese medical services, along with financial aid, to the low-income elderly at the designated clinics set up by the School. In addition, the School makes use of the funding to provide advanced clinical training to Chinese medicine graduates so as to nurture more professional Chinese medicine practitioners to offer first-rate Chinese medical services to the local community.
